Use dress labels and body measurements for different decisions

The ASOS measurement table helps you compare bust, waist and hips. For example, 93 cm bust, 80 cm waist and 98.5 cm hips span US 8, US 10 and US 8; the finder displays the largest reference and the individual matches. This makes the waist constraint visible without implying that every other part will fit closely.

The separate BOSS table answers a label-conversion question, including Russia, Japan, Korea and letters. It does not supply replacement ASOS measurements. For a fitted dress, check fabric stretch and fastening; for a loose dress, check shoulder and length. Petite, tall and specialised collections should use their own product chart.

Three checks before ordering

  1. Match the product brand, country system and garment type to the selected table.
  2. Keep body and garment measurements separate, with consistent centimetre or inch units.
  3. Check the specific style’s length, width and stretch, then read the store’s sizing and exchange information.

START WITH MEASUREMENTS

How to measure

Chest / bustNatural waistFullest hipsHeight
Measure circumferences all the way around the body, not across the front. Measure height barefoot. Diagram not to scale.
  1. 01

Measure chest or bust around the fullest point. Keep the tape horizontal without compressing the body.

  2. 02

Measure the natural waist, then the widest part of the hips. Record body measurements separately from garment measurements.

  3. 03

Compare all measurements with the product guide. Check fabric stretch, garment length and the intended fit before choosing.

A few things labels don’t tell you.

These are body measurements, not flat-lay dress dimensions. A fitted woven dress needs different ease from a stretch knit. If your measurements span sizes, follow the product’s fit advice.

Common questions

What are the measurements for a US 8 dress?

This ASOS standard-fit reference lists bust 93 cm, waist 75 cm and hips 98.5 cm, equivalent to UK 12 / EU 40.

Can I use the same chart for petite or curve?

Use the specific range’s chart. Proportions and measurements can differ even when the labels look the same.

How are inches calculated?

Measurement values are divided by exactly 2.54 and rounded to one decimal place. Size labels are not converted as measurements.

Can I convert dress sizes to Russia, Japan, Korea or S-M-L?

All seven label systems are available in the BOSS reference; the ASOS measurement finder remains a separate brand-specific tool.
